SMALL BUSINESS

new York thrives when smaLL businesses are vibrant, workers are empowered, and everyone is set up for success.

  • We must make our streets friendly to customers—with containerized trash to reduce rats; pedestrianized streets to draw people; and more public restrooms, parklets, and seating to make them welcoming.

  • Small businesses should be supported, with expansion of the massively popular outdoor dining program, permanent legalization of to-go alcohol service, and expansion of permits for hard-working street vendors who keep us fed.

  • All workers should be empowered, organized, and highly paid—including via implementation of One Fair Wage for all industries, so service workers are protected from discrimination, harassment, and wage theft.

Our smaLL businesses are the engines of our economy.

That’s especially true here in downtown Manhattan. We should celebrate and support their role in creating our vibrant communities.
