HEALTHCARE

We must guarantee high-quaLity heaLthcare for aLL new Yorkers by passing the new York HeaLth Act.

  • Healthcare is a human right — but over 50% of New Yorkers are burdened by its costs.

  • We must liberate New Yorkers from the constraints of employer-provided care.

  • The NYHA will also save the state money — over 3% of costs by 2031.

We must eLiminate Laws that bLock access to Life-saving care, especiaLLy if we enter a post-Roe America.

  • We must expand reproductive healthcare access for all people, here and nationwide.

  • New York must proactively offer safe harbor to anyone in need of an abortion.

  • After years of failure, we must legalize access to prescription birth control at pharmacies — so all New Yorkers who want birth control can easily get it.

Evidence-based approaches to drug treatment and mentaL heaLth chaLLenges shouLd be expanded.

  • Safe injection sites should be expanded statewide, to save lives and help individuals struggling with addiction get onto safer paths.

  • Lost mental health beds for in-patient treatment must be recovered and expanded.

  • It’s time to decarcerate and invest in community-based care. Our jails and prisons cannot be our primary sites of mental healthcare.

I am a new Yorker with a chronic iLLness requiring costLy weekLy treatment, and I have aLways made empLoyment decisions based on how they wiLL impact my access to insurance. none of us shouLd be subject to that perverse Logic.
